How do I know? I’ve been working with type designers of all skill levels for over 20 years. (read their tesimonials) As former Director of Typeface Development for ITC (International Typeface Corporation), I know the joy, satisfaction and sense of accomplishment that comes from completing a type design. I also know the indecision, frustration and insecurity a designer can experience during the process. Every type designer, from neophyte to highly skilled professional, has encountered these things.
Almost all type designers are self-taught. A vital part of the learning curve should be assistance and support from experienced type designers and other type professionals. Unfortunately, most people only have access to this small and very disperse group via news groups, books, articles and conferences and with very little direct contact. I’d like to change all that.
Every type designer can now have the opportunity to get the same highly professional, detailed (and affordable) review I gave all type designers at ITC for many years, on a personal, individual basis. Whether a 16 weight classic text family, a script, handwriting or calligraphic design, or a heavy-metal, comic book or distressed display face, every typeface can benefit from an experienced, trained eye.
